Matron for Medical Education

Kelly Heckingbottom-Plunkett

I am the Matron for Medical Education. I commenced my career in 1996, as a Student Nurse in this Trust. Upon qualifying, I became a staff nurse in Accident and Emergency, where I remained (working my way through the ranks), for over 20 years. My primary objective is to ensure that the educational and wellbeing needs of both our undergraduate/postgraduate doctors in training are fulfilled to the best of our ability. The aim of the team is to be easily accessible and readily available to assist with your queries or problems, you will often find me on engagement rounds in the main building. We also have a wellbeing room in THQ which ensures that we can have sensitive conversations in a private environment.

This is an extremely varied role and I feel privileged to be part of such an innovative, forward-thinking team.
